I’d like to talk about Ben Pakulksi’s program for size and strength called MI40X (Mass Intentions Extreme 2.0). This new bodybuilding system came out in June of 2014 and hit has been a real hit among guys who want to build muscle. What makes it so special? Well, a lot of things come to mind.
Some guys make the mistake of lifting the same amount of weight for the same number of reps day after day. This is because they never move beyond the linear progression that gave them results as beginners. New trainees, you see, will find that they will gradually get stronger with each workout and all they have to do is add a little bit of weight from week to week. This is fine for the first few months or years of going to the gym, but it is not effective for those who have already been training for a while.
Eventually you realize your body works on a more cyclical type system. In other words, you need periods of rest (light or no training) followed by periods of more intensive training. This is where MI40x really stands out. You’ll start off with a three-week “primer” phase in which you simply set up your body to withstand the training that is to come. After that you’ll go through several phases of varying intensities. One phase, for example, may emphasize strength training. Or you’ll have a period of “over-training”–intentionally doing a lot more volume than you would normally do. These phases build upon each other and the end result should be increases in both size and strength. This is perfect for guys who have been training but have kind of reached a plateau in their gains.
You’ll find that one of the main components of Mass Intentions Extreme 2.0 is CEP–a method of causing your muscle cells to increase their number of nuclei. This is based on the science of hypertrophy–muscle cells basically “borrow” the nuclei of satellite cells in order for hypertrophy to occur. Bodybuilders who are bigger and stronger have muscles that are different at the cellular level. You can learn certain techniques that take advantage of this scientific principle and hopefully create bigger biceps (or whatever part you are wanting to grow).
Another great thing is you will be able to download some great workout videos if you decide to order this program. You can see how Ben trains people to get the most out of each exercise. It helps with the “mind-muscle connection”–learning how to focus on the specific muscle (or group of muscles) you want to train with each repetition. There’s nothing quite like watching a high quality training video–you’ll be eager to go to the gym and try out these techniques for yourself.
Be sure that you don’t neglect the nutrition plans that are provided. The meal plans can be customized for both your goals and for the individual phases. If you follow this plan carefully I think you will see new gains in muscle and you’ll also lose fat along the way.
A supplement guide is also included. Supplements are not all that important, but at least you can decide which ones are worth your time and leave out the bogus stuff. But you don’t have to use the brands recommended by Ben–just find a reputable product at a good price. I think basic things like protein powder and creatine monohydrate are all you really need to have success.
